A Letter From the State Master Councilor
|
 |
Brethren,
What a busy/cold month! Not only have there been a
ton of great DeMolay events throughout the state but
also a lot of snow. I hope everyone was safe in there
travels and all went well. I intended to make it to a few
more events this month but simply couldn’t due to the
weather. Nevertheless, I did manage to make it to a
few great events! On February 3rd, Bro. Tim Williams
went in as Master Councilor of Ottawa Chapter. Bro.
Williams has been the leader of the Chapter since he
helped bring it back and I am very excited and proud
that he is finally Master Councilor. The next weekend I
made it down to Ivanhoe Chapter where they held the
Initiatory and DeMolay Degree for a total of FOUR new
DeMolays. This was a group effort and I thank
Hamilton for the 2 candidates and the many DeMolays
they brought to help. That night the 4th District held its
Sweetheart Competition for the first time in many
years. It went exceptionally well and Miss Katherayne
Hoyt became the District Sweetheart. Miss Hoyt is
also the Grand Bethal Honored Queen for Ohio Job’s
Daughters! Another Installation I was pleased to be at
was for Van Wert Chapter! Bro. Robert Laing became
the 2nd Master Councilor of this brand new chapter
and I can’t wait to see what he is going to do. Linden
Chapter had a DeMolay Degree for a brand new
member and it was the best degree that I have seen
in quite a while! Two big events this past month were
the Emerald City Celebration and State Dodgeball.
The Emerald City Celebration was a dance
sponsored by Ohio Rainbow. It was a ton of fun and
the costumes were hilarious (someone came as the
whole Emerald City). If you missed State Dodgeball
then you missed a great event! Around 30 people
played in the tournament and everyone had a good
time. Well, that ends my busy month and I am looking
forward to another one. If you would like to see me at
YOUR Chapter please send me an e-mail at
craigalanloose@ohiodemolay.com so that I know
when and where to show up. I would love to be able
to be at every DeMolay event but I simply can’t unless
you tell me about them! Hope to hear from all of you
soon!
Fraternally,
Bro. Craig A. Loose
State Master Councilor

Think Seasonal!
Well it’s about time spring made its way here. The
weather is getting warmer and it’s time for some
fundraising. Here’s some seasonal ideas for your
chapter’s next fund raising project.
Lay off the Sweets! We’re in the middle of Lent, a
Christian holiday where it’s customary to give up
some luxury for the 40 days before Easter. Now would
be a bad time to start selling cookies or candy bars
since the most common luxury given up is sugar. But
it is possible to capitalize on this season by selling
fruit to those starving for something sweet. Another
common luxury give up is meat on Fridays. Holding a
Friday night Fish Fry or Fish Dinner could prove very
lucrative.
Find a picture with either Jesus being tempted by the
Devil, or a tasty fish. You should probably go with the
fish.

A recipe for success
So you’ve run out of membership ideas and your
prospect parties are a little bit on the mild side. Look
at it as if it were a recipe, you have the ingredients you
need so in this case we want to make a kickin’
prospect party. So you need a ¼ of a cup of
Demolay’s, two ounces of advisors, 1 place to hold it,
1 ½ lbs of candidates, ½ dozen pizzas, and the key
ingredient that will make it this party like no other. The
best part of this the ingredient it can be what ever you
want but here is a list of few things you could do:
Video game tournament, 3-3 basketball, STATE
EVENTS, dances, dodge ball league, and camping.
Mix well and place in the oven at 350 degrees (in order
to make this party hot in hur’) bake for 2-3 hours and
add a good assortment of girls for garnish let sit for 5
min and you got one kickin’ prospect party worth
bragging about. Good luck and good cooking.
