A Letter From the State Master Councilor
|
 |
Brethren,
What a fun and exciting month! The month started
with tremendous success when the Second District
held its ceremonial and initiated thirteen young men
into our order. Congratulations to all of our new
brothers! I can’t wait to see all of them around the
state. State Basketball came and went and I truly
hope that all had a ton of fun playing basketball and
enjoying the brotherhood. My finals were horrible but
at least that signaled the coming of my spring break.
During it I had the pleasure of visiting Denbrook and
Medina. My mileage did not end there though as I
went to Lawrence County Chapter for the Installation
of Justin Allen. He will do a fine job as Master
Councilor and I look for big things from that Chapter. I
also made it over to Marvin E. Kneisley Chapter for
their Installation. Those brethren are on the verge of
something special and I cannot wait for them to get
rolling. For all of those who did not make it over to the
Tadmor Youth Dance, you really missed out on a great
event.
Heartland Ritual Competition is just around the corner
and I have a feeling that Ohio has a great chance to
bring back the hardware. All of the DeMolays who are
going are great examples of how great Ohio DeMolay
really is and I am eager to show off our brothers. The
other big event this month is the State Officer
Reception. This is a time that everyone has the
chance to show their appreciation for all of the hard
work that our State Officers do. They take time and
money out of there lives to travel thousands of miles
around Ohio talking the praises of our great order.
The price is only $20 and includes a quality meal and
dance. Please make sure that you place a reservation
with me before April 8th so that you can ensure
yourself a seat. I will see you around the state!
Fraternally,
Bro. Craig A. Loose
State Master Councilor

April Showers!
Well gentlemen, spring is upon us and you know what
that means. Time
for some fund raising! We’ve got a lot of great events
this summer
including ODLE and Conclave. These are pretty
expensive events for
anyone with a minimum wage job so let’s think of
some ways of
covering costs. The saying goes April showers bring
May flowers... but
if no one plants the flowers there’s no way for them to
grow this
spring. Try organizing a flower sale with your chapter.
Seeds can
be purchased from your local garden center or
hardware store and sold
to friends, family, or door-to-door. Talk to the
employees at the
garden center about which plants will grow the best in
the area,
they’ll be happy to help you out. You can also pick up
potted plants
that are made for planting outdoors and all manner of
other lawn
decorations that could be resold.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR.JUNE 30, 2007 at the
Aladdin Shrine, the first ever Ohio DeMolay Hall of
Fame Induction Ceremony and the recipients will be
Dad Merlyn Meredith, Dad Steve Krekus, Dad Chester
Hodges (deceased) and Brother/Dad Mark Loose
(deceased). As most know, Dad Meredith, Dad
Krekus, and Dad Hodges were all Executive Officer for
Ohio DeMolay. Brother/Dad Mark Loose was State
Master Councilor and the only International Master
Councilor from Ohio. In addition to being Executive
Officer Dad Hodges was also Grand Master of
DeMolay International. Words cannot describe what
their accomplishments have meant to Ohio
DeMolay
.
This past month Dad Korn and I traveled to
Defiance Ohio in the Fifth Masonic District where I
gave a short presentation on DeMolay. We then talked
to a couple of the Worshipful Master’s from the District
and have been invited to come and talk about DeMolay
in greater detail at a couple of the lodges. Hopefully,
we might have some additional good information to
report in the near future about additional DeMolay
Chapters in this area.
I learned in the past month that there is a reason
why adults don’t play contact sports after a certain
age. State Dodgeball was a fun time but I really
should have listened to my own common sense
rather than allowing the DeMolay’s to convince me
that, “no one will get hurt”. Luckily, I was able to walk
again fairly well on the fourth day after the event.
On March 2nd, I was pleased to be able to be
present at the Inspection of Western Star Lodge
where our State Senior Councilor Eric Small was
raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason.
Congratulations on this step in your Masonic Career.
On March 3rd our State Master Councilor Craig
Loose and I represented Ohio DeMolay at the Ohio
State Shrine Association meeting. Craig did a nice talk
on DeMolay and afterwards the Shrine took up a
collection for a donation to Ohio DeMolay.
Spring is almost here....let’s think about growing
membership!

Dad Shaw

A recipe for success
So you’ve run out of membership ideas and your
prospect parties are a little bit on the mild side. Look
at it as if it were a recipe, you have the ingredients you
need so in this case we want to make a kickin’
prospect party. So you need a ¼ of a cup of
Demolay’s, two ounces of advisors, 1 place to hold it,
1 ½ lbs of candidates, ½ dozen pizzas, and the key
ingredient that will make it this party like no other. The
best part of this the ingredient it can be what ever you
want but here is a list of few things you could do:
Video game tournament, 3-3 basketball, STATE
EVENTS, dances, dodge ball league, and camping.
Mix well and place in the oven at 350 degrees (in order
to make this party hot in hur’) bake for 2-3 hours and
add a good assortment of girls for garnish let sit for 5
min and you got one kickin’ prospect party worth
bragging about. Good luck and good cooking.
