Welcome to the Ohio DeMolay E-Connection!

From the State Master Councilor

First off I want to say congratulations to our 9 newest brothers initiated at our Statewide Initiation and Paintball.  For those of you who missed out on Statewide and Paintball you missed out on a great time.  Check out ohiodemolay.org soon for pictures from the event.  We also unvailed our newest membership program the #1 Club.  To join the #1 Club all you have to do is bring in one member between now and Conclave '08!  Members will receive an official membership card, #1 Club T-shirt and exclusive access to a fully loaded hospitality room at Winterfest and Conclave '08!  So share DeMolay and join the #1 Club.  While you're online checking out ohiodemolay.org, head over to myspace.com/ohiodemolayso and become friends with the Ohio DeMolay State Officers.  Along with ohiodemolay.org we'll help keep you informed of everything going on around Ohio DeMolay.  Staying on top of communication is the key to Moving Forward this year with Ohio DeMolay

Keep Moving Forward

For those of you at Conclave this year, this article will be a recap of what you already know.  For those of you, who weren't in attendance, listen very closely.  How would you like to go to next year's Conclave for free?  That's right, I said FREE!  You can save yourself the hassle of coming up with the $200 dollars and sell some ads for our Conclave booklet.  There are two ways of doing this, you can sell page ads or you can sell "One Line Signers." You can sell an eighth page, a quarter page, a half page, or even an entire full page in our booklet for prices ranging from $25 for an eighth of a page to $100 dollars for a full page.  Think about it, if you sell 4 full page ads, you pay for your trip to Conclave!  But, the easiest way to sell ads is to sell the One Line Signers.  Basically, all you have to do is get $2 from each person, have them sign their name on your sheet, and their name will be put in our program as "Supporters of Ohio DeMolay." You can do the math, a couple one line signers and a couple half page ads; you're going to Conclave for free! At NO CHARGE TO YOU!!! That's an extra $200 you can spend on the newest Halo 5 at this time next year.  Think about it.  Everything you need is on the Ohio DeMolay website (ohiodemolay.org), all the flyers, dates, contracts, everything you need to get to Conclave for free.  If you need help or have any questions regarding this fundraiser, feel free to ask me anytime.  So go out and sell those ads and come to Conclave for FREE!!!

Old leprechaun Bretheren, we have some very good membership drives going on right now.  One being that if you are the first line signer on 15 petitions then you will recieve a payed trip to DeMolay International.  And the other one is that if your the first line signer on at least one petition then you become the member of the #1 club, which will get you access to a hospitality room at conclave and winterfest as well as a T-shirt.  These two programs should be able to help us get that positive growth in members.

From Your Executive Officer:

  1. Conclave is over and we are now poised to Keep Moving Forward. You can view the main page of the Ohio DeMolay Web Site to see several new programs already being started to help Ohio DeMolay Keep Moving Forward. In addition, every Chapter can now have their own Web Page thanks to Dad Cohen who handed out disks for making a Web Page for each Chapter to connect to the Ohio DeMolay Web Site.

  2. The following major Awards were presented at Conclave:

    • Chapter of the Year - Upper Sandusky

    • Merlin Meredith Membership Award: Nick Olmstead - Fallen Timbers

    • Rookie of the Year: Miles Johnson - Hamilton Chapter

    • Brotherhood Award: Miles Johnson - Hamilton Chapter

    • State Officer of the Year: Brian Hare - Lakewood Chapter

    • Guild of the Leather Apron: Jim Johnson - Hamilton Chapter

    • Zerubbabel Keys: Dad Laing Van Wert Chapter & Dad Sharninghouse Black Swamp Chapter

  3. Please pay particular attention to the Advisor Recruitment Program introduced at Conclave. Through this program, Ohio DeMolay hopes to add more than 30 new Advisors to the overall Advisor Staff by 12/1/2007.

  4. So far since Conclave, if everyone initiated is reported to DI, we should have between 25-30 new members. A few more months like that and we will be on our way to showing a growth in 2008.

  5. I'm also hoping that something which was mentioned to me at the Statewide Initiation comes to fruition. Two Senior DeMolay's (both Chevaliers) approached me and said they think they may have 15 young men who want to become DeMolay's but there is not a DeMolay Chapter in their town. I quickly replied show me the petitions and we'll see what we can do to get a new Chapter going!

  6. We have been asked to participate in a major activity in the history of the Grand Lodge of Ohio. Next year is the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Grand Lodge of Ohio and on June 21st, 2008 the Grand Lodge of Ohio will have a major parade and cornerstone laying at the State capital. Ohio DeMolay has been requested to participate. Plans are being made right now to hold an activity and overnight in Columbus on the night prior to this activity so we have a good showing at the Grand Lodge event the next day. Please mark June 20th & 21st, 2008 on your Chapter calendar and plan to attend!

  7. Next year, the Grand Master of Grand Lodge will also be requesting the Chapters to adopt a Grandparent at one of the Ohio Masonic Homes. This will make a great Masonic service activity and should be part of all upcoming Maser Councilor's plans. More information will be coming out soon.
