Where We've Been...
A lot of wonderful things have been happening recently
here at the Greatest Chapter of the Largest Jurisdiction
of the World! Fundraising Season is almost over, much
to the delight of the Advisory Council...but the
Chapter's funds got a shot in the arm from the many
days of intense labor we've already experienced.
All fundraising projects were a resounding success with
the exception of the 2nd Annual Pickerington Violet
Festival. Unfortunately, the event was poorly attended
and is not going to be worked by Groveport Chapter as
long as Dad Close has anything to say about it.
Once again, the passing of the reigns in the
Jurisdiction of Ohio and the Chapters of the Fabulous
4th District has taken place. On July 9th, Brother
Mike Cogley was installed as Groveport Chapter's new
Master Councilor. A great time was had by all and the
evening's installing team was almost entirely comprised
of Groveport Chapter PMCs--a sight not seen to most
Chapters around the state. At Ohio DeMolay's 74th
Annual Conclave (July 22-25), Brother Dan Rannebarger
(of neighboring Moundbuilders Chapter) was installed as
State Master Councilor for the 1999-2000 Ohio DeMolay
Year. His personal goal is to have 2,000 members of
Ohio DeMolay on the books for the year 2000 Conclave.
Groveport Chapter is going to strive to do its part,
but this is going to mean each member is going to have
to do their part in membership goal.
The month of August was kicked off by a fun-filled
mystery trip to Paramount's King's Island. A great
time was shared at Cincinnati's major tourist
attraction and everyone enjoyed the sights and scenes
it had to offer...even at 60 miles per hour!
As we begin a new term here at Groveport Chapter, let
us not forget that we are one of the leading Chapters
in the state. Because of this, a great responsibility
is added to all of our shoulders because of it. We
can't simply be the best; we have to make being the
best mean something!
As a side note, Denbrook Chapter received the Chapter
of the Year distinction...this year. Who knows? Next
year's results may be a little different with a bit of
hard work and determination...

News From Big Red
Congratulations Groveport Chapter !!!
This summer has been long and hot but we have
managed to come through it in pretty good shape.
We've had many successful events that started with
Installation and carried through the State MUD
Volleyball competition. (You guys finished 4th
overall)
It's a great pleasure to welcome our two new
members, Adam and Ben to the Chapter. I hope you
have a long and fun-filled career in DeMolay.
Don't forget the bet with Dan and Frenchy. I
would really like to go to our favorite restaurant
and not have to pay for anything this time. The
rest of the Advisory Council, and myself, are
looking forward to a great finish for the year
and a strong start for the new millenium, from
you guys.
Yours in Brotherhood
Dad Close
