What Time Is It?

It's time to give Ohio a refresher course in just who Groveport Chapter is…

And we have several excellent chances to do it.

On November 22nd, our next stated meeting, we get the chance to tighten our belts, straighten our ties, and bust out the best degree work we can, because it's Inspection Time. Inspections are one of the most nerve-racking times for a Master Councilor, so it's the job of the rest of us to do the best we can and make it a little easier for Mike.

The illustrious Groveport Chapter has also been invited to perform the DeMolay degree for the Southwest Regional Initiation on November 20th. Who knows…maybe this will give us some pretty good practice for when we go to Cleveland in March in the hopes of a repeat championship performance. If you find that you can't go to Cincinnati, why not support some of our hard-working Advisors instead? Dad Cogley will be installed as Worshipful Master of Groveport Lodge #240 and Dad Dickensheets will be installed as Worshipful Master of Southgate Lodge #692 in the evening of the 20th. But of these men have dedicated years to DeMolay and this is their night to shine.

One of the things we hold in high regard at our Chapter is our benevolent nature. In fact, we extended a fraternal hand to our fellow Chapter here in the Fabulous Fourth District: Linden. We also enjoyed a hayride with the Jobs of Bethels #71 and #64. Many laughs were had by all as we discussed current events, future co-organizational ideas, and the 19th Amendment.

We also have another new Advisor in our midst. The paper work has yet to be done, but Dad Rannebarger, father of our best-smelling State Master Councilor yet, has come on-board to make a great Chapter greater. So, next time you see him, say thanks and ask him to tell you some stories. He has some pretty good ones (especially about a certain Chapter Dad we have).

--Big Red's Infinite Wisdom--

Hello Men,

I have always been overwhelmed with emotion when I hear the beginning of the "Recognition Button" speech. It was written in part by Dad Land and expresses his pleasure in greeting new members into our Order. I take the same joy in watching a new member join our ranks. It may be the very first time a young man realizes the impact DeMolay could have on his life. It is a starting point from which each of us progresses through life. Some of us will stick with the organization for a short time, then move on to other things. Some will remain active until majority and then follow the new and wonderful paths before them. Some will remain with the Order in one capacity or the other for years on end. Whatever road each of us chooses, the impression DeMolay makes upon us is a lasting one. DeMolay is a way of life, not merely a boys club. It teaches each of us lessons that can and do alter the very fabric of our souls. It teaches fidelity, fraternal love and patriotism, to be practiced not only while amongst each other but in our daily lives. It instills its teachings of filial love and reverence into our thoughts so deeply that we are unaware of any other way to act. I hope that each of you will reflect upon our Order and look at the changes that have appeared in you. Look deeply into yourselves and ask if you are a better man for the experience. Then ask yourselves, "Whom can I share this with?" From time to time take a moment to read the speech that begins, "In the words of our founder…"
