BREAKING NEWS
State Devotional Day
On the afternoon of Sunday, May 21, 2000, residents and visitors of the Ohio
Masonic Home congregated for the Ohio State Council's Annual Devotional Day.
The service was sadly opened with Brother Dan Rannebarger's acknowledgement
of the passing of Dad Ralph Marquis, past 4th District Governor and Dad Charlie
Lowe, past 2nd District Governor
and a prayer was said on their behalf. After a brief call to
worship by Brother Jason French, Ms. Carrie Dade, the Ohio DeMolay State
Sweetheart, lead the attendants in a chorus of "Amazing Grace." Next,
Brother Don Thompson, State Chaplain, read a story commonly known as the "Red
Marbles Story" to start off the afternoon's message in reference to the
"Golden Rule." Brother Brian Lux, State Senior Councilor, then followed with
the scripture reading of Matthew Chapter 7, verses 1-12. Brother Thompson
then delivered the message for the scripture, followed by a closing prayer by
Brother Chris Kelso, State Junior Councilor. Approximately 40 were in
attendance at the service and a picnic sponsored by the 3rd District Mother's
Club capped the afternoon off.
State Legislature Day
Bros Ben Foley, Seth Foley and Don Thompson served at the 24th Annual State
Legislature Day on May 5, 2000 at the State Capitol. The morning session was
presided over by Speaker of the House Dan Rannebarger, SMC, while the
Speaker in the afternoon was Bro Jason French DSMC (at least until he was
impeached). About 50 DeMolays from around the state took part in the event,
designed to help DeMolays learn about government.
