  1. MEMBERSHIP.. This past weekend Tim Williams, Dad Ted Korn and I headed to Kansas City and we received several interesting ideas which can be used to help improve membership. Our trip to Kansas City was very exciting (plane delays, wrong terminal information, luggage woes, etc.) but we made it and considered ourselves lucky that more issues during the travel didn’t occur. An example of one very simple idea was to volunteer to help your lodge prepare the dues envelopes and request to put into the envelope a single card telling about DeMolay. One Chapter got 16 new members using this idea which cost the Chapter nothing!
  2. Watch the web site for information on the overnight Statewide Initiation in June (13/14). I think there are several interesting ideas and activities being tried and you won’t want to miss out on any of them!
  3. Several districts have indicated that they are helping out the Shrine (or have helped out) with the Shrine Circus. I think this is a great way to get DeMolay before the public but remember to act at all times as would be expected of a DeMolay.
  4. Several DeMolays attended the Ohio Miss Jobs Daughters Pageant in Cleveland. Congratulations Holly on being selected as Ohio Miss Jobs Daughters, Nicole on Ohio Miss Congeniality, and Gwen on your reign over the past year as Miss Jobs Daughters/Miss Congeniality.

  1. MEMBERSHIP.. Tim Williams, Dad Ted Korn and myself are headed to Kansas City in a couple of weeks to discuss with Jurisdictions from around the world ideas to help improve membership. We are also going to be creating, out of the weekend activities, a handbook to help out the jurisdictions with membership. There are several incentives surrounding membership which are going to be available but the best benefit for all Chapters should be the increased activities that can happen with increased membership.
  2. I was able to attend a couple of Legion of Honor dinners this month. I was very pleased to hear their support with increase participation in the form of Advisors on local Chapter Councils along with some specific financial support.
  3. All Chapters should have received a letter with some very important items which every Chapter needs to address.
    1. One of the issues is that every Chapter MUST fill out the IRS information as described in the letter sent to the Chapters.
    2. Another item is that all Chapters are expected to participate in the June 21st Grand Lodge Activity in Columbus . An overnight activity is being planned for June 20th in the Columbus area so watch for information to be coming out soon.
    3. Finally, make sure that August 2nd is on every Calendar of every Chapter in Ohio as this will be our Reception for Dad Watson as Grand Master of DeMolay International and induction of the late Dad Gene Loose in the Ohio DeMolay Hall of Fame. Reservation forms will be available very soon. The per person costs will be $20 for active DeMolays and $30 for adults.
There should be no events other in the state to conflict with the two mentioned above on June 21st & August 2nd.

  1. This past weekend I met with several Executive Officers around the country and we discussed several ideas to potentially help build DeMolay. We also discussed some ideas about how to simplify the administration required of an individual Chapter. I'm hoping to be able to introduce a few new ideas in Ohio soon.
  2. MEMBERSHIP... What's going on right now? I've heard of some initiations and prospect parties being held but are they really being reported to DeMolay International? Let's step things up over the next few months and make Ohio DeMolay grow! Our new Membership Director Dad Mike Myers and Tim Williams are working hard to come up with some ideas to help out the Chapters.
  3. State Officer Applications for 2008-2009 are due soon (April 1st). Don't miss out if you plan on applying for an office. See your Governor for more information if you are interested.
  4. State Dodgeball is coming up on the 19th of April. Look for additional information coming out soon!
