Groveport Inspection
by Adam Taylor
Groveport had its Inspection on March 16th, 2009. After numerous inspections in the
DeMolay Degree, we finally decided to change to the Initiatory Degree. I believe
that with a few slipups, we preformed the degree splendidly and pulled it off quite
nicely. As the sentiments of the inspecting advisor reaffirms, our preceptor team
could be one of the best in the state. Most importantly, I believe that the virtues
of our precepts were deeply impressed upon the mind of the new brother, Brandon
Eaves. With only one prospect showing up for actual initiation, I would like to
enjoin upon all DeMolay the importance of conveying to all who you believe are
worthy of comradeship, the magnitude DeMolay can make on one's life. I also want
to show Groveport's appreciation toward Linden Chapter, who greatly helped in
conveying the importance of the degree. May we be able to repay their helpfulness
in supporting them in the DeMolay degree on the 23rd. On a final note, I believe
and hope that the success of this inspection may foreshadow other successes in the
future of our chapter.

Groveport Sweetheart Competition and Dance
by Adam Taylor
Groveport held it sweetheart competition on March 14th, 2009. Two young ladies from
Bethel 71 competed for the title of Chapter Sweetheart. We congratulate Alyssa Pettry
on becoming Groveport's new Sweetheart, may she fulfill her duties in helping the
chapter and aiding the brothers. After the competition Groveport held a dance to
commemorate the occasion. We greatly appreciate Nicole Smith, 3rd District
Sweetheart, for bringing some of the young ladies from 3rd district to help
our dance. It certainly made it more enjoyable. The entire evening was an
enormous hit and I'm sure fun was had by all who attended.

Hamilton Installation
by Adam Taylor
Groveport helped with the installation of officers at Hamilton Chapter Saturday,
February 28. Attending from Groveport was Brother Glass - Installing Senior
Councilor, Brother Myers - Installing Junior Councilor, Brother Cohen - Installing
Senior Deacon, and Brother Taylor - Installing Chaplin. The installation was a huge
success and, on behalf of the chapter, we wish Brother Kenny Nappert a fun and
productive Master Councilor term. Hamilton held a dance after the installation to
celebrate the upcoming term. The entire night was exceedingly enjoyable and it was
a good opportunity to catch up with our brothers in the 7th district, not to
mention the young ladies of Jobs Daughter and Rainbow Girls. The night was a
great example of how we as DeMolay can mix business with fun and have a great
time doing it all. I would also like to take the time to thank Dad Myers and
Dad Nelson who took time out of their weekend to take us to Hamilton.

State Ritual Competition
by Adam Taylor
Groveport attended the 2009 State Ritual Competition in Barberton Saturday,
January 17th. The day was filled with fun, fellowship, and just a little bit
of brotherly competition. I would like to point out the Groveport took home
the Chapter Supremacy Award, which stands as a great display of our chapters
dedication to ritual. Many of Groveport's members also took home first and
second places throughout the competition. A full list
of the chapters accomplishments. I would also like to give Barberton
Chapter a huge round of applause. Not only did they graciously feed everyone,
they put on a well planned instillation and dance following the day's competition.
Their newly installed chapter had all but one officer seat filled and one member
even received the Blue Honor Key. Finally I would like to thank all the advisors
that made the day possible. We should understand that the day took a lot of work
in planning and execution and be grateful that it went off with no major problems.

Winterfest 2009
by Adam Taylor
Groveport attended the 2008-2009 Winterfest during the first weekend of the New Year.
It was held back in beautiful Salt Fork State Park, an area which we have not visited
in the last couple of years. Although short in time, the weekend was full of fellowship
and fun for all who attended. I would like to give a huge applaud to all of fourth
district who participated in the DeMolay Degree. Even with a few tiny hiccups in the
performance, the act was an overall huge success and a great testament to everyone's hard
work. Besides the scheduled meetings, the weekend activities were, for the most part,
left up to the DeMolays. Whether you decided to complete your LCC's, play flag football,
or just explore the great scenery at the park, a good time was guaranteed. All fun
aside; this was also a great time to come together in brotherhood. Since state events
are few and far between, we should relish the time we spend whit our brothers from other
districts and be thankful that this event went off with no major complications.

New Year's Lock-in
by Adam Taylor
Groveport Lodge hosted the First Annual New Year's Eve Lock-in on Wednesday, December
31st, to celebrate the coming of the New Year. Brothers from the Linden and Groveport
Chapters, as well as the young ladies from Bethel 71, came together for a night of food, fun,
and fellowship. The New Years was brought in with the dropping of a spectacular homemade
ball, as well as the tossing of a watermelon off of the Lodge roof, courtesy of Dad Cohen.
The lock-in proved to serve as a celebration of the upcoming term and the new officers, as
well as an activity that strengthened the bond between these likeminded organizations. I
would hope that I am not the only one who wishes to see this enjoyable event recur for many
years to come. I would also like to give a special thanks to all the members and advisors
who helped organize this event. In all the merriment of the festivities we cannot forget
the hard work it took to put it all together and commemorate the individuals who did an
exemplary job in doing so.

Elections
by Adam Taylor
Elections were held for Groveport Chapter during the stated meeting on December
22nd. The new Groveport Chapter Councilors are as follows; Brother Andrew
Glass - Master Councilor Elect, Brother Adam Lappert - Senior Councilor Elect,
and Brother Adam Taylor - Junior Councilor Elect. Making the occasion even
more significant, Brother Chris Diaz and Brother Jared Bridgewater were able
to congratulate the new officers while on holiday leave from their respective
Armed Services. On behalf of Groveport Chapter I would like to wish the new
Councilors a productive and enjoyable term.
